hi matt, when do you think you will be able to review trend micro, it’s just that you haven’t done one since 2008.

  • mrizos

    added AVG and Trend

If it is not too much trouble, please add PC Tools ThreatFire AV to see how it does at removal. It is extremely sensitive to PUP’s running in the background when set to Level 5. It would be extremely interesting to see how its behavior blocker reacts to malware processes after the malware is already embedded on the system (consistent with your testing environment). You can also do a full scan with it.

    • mrizos

      Sure, I’ll add that too.

      • ZOU

Fabulous! You da man!!!! Such an unselfish chap……hehe

  • mrizos

    added Norman, PC Tools, GDATA

How about MSE? That hasn’t been reviewed in a while.

  • reymtz

Avira is BY FAR the best antivirus out there. I’ve been a PC tech now for ~15years. Avira has kept most of my customers very happy, except the pop-ups cause its free. Also, NEVER pay for an antivirus, the free ones, #1 they’re FREE, and #2 they do a better job than the ALL the ones you pay for. I speak with lots of experience.

How about you add MSE? That hasn’t been talked about in a while.

  • Casey866

I can wait to see the ones over Bit Defender and GDATA but I feel like Norman is going to be sad.

Matt, what is the best tool to attack zeroacess root kit. Some tools on your list just don’t cut it

    • mrizos

Download the latest Kaspersky Rescue Disc. Update it. Scan. Disinfect. Then reboot the system in safe mode. Run a scan with Combofix. That’s usually enough for me.

      • Lovesong69

Matt thanks for the info. You are gangsta when it comes to malware removal! I’m so glad I ran into your website. I’ve increased my knowledge thanks to you and helped others save money instead of being ripped off by places like geek squad etc.

http://m.techspot.com/47739/ Matt have you seen this article? Sounds like there is a new menace out there.

    • mrizos

Saw that. I’m thinking that DUQU is a language dev’d by the NSA to combat/slowdown other crazy ass nations from dev’ing a nuclear bomb…aka…IRAN

      • ZOU

It is probably to keep military drone OS’s from being hacked, and landed safely in enemy territory.

        • ZOU

Either way, it sounds like some Area 51 or Wright Patterson “black ops” type stuff when considering that they are keeping development teams separated and (or) ignorant of one another.

  • Bubbanater07

The Avast 7 video is in progess will it be uploaded tonight?

  • 123shre

matt hope u have the latest version of avast for testing that is 7.0.1426

  • ZOU

I recently uninstalled Avast. It has good protection, but it caused me to have annoying hangs. Avira is good too, but it nags too much. AVG is a joke. I am not going to pay for Norton or Kaspersky just to find out that they have similar symptoms. I currently run Threatfire AV (LEVEL 5) Though it is a behavior blocker and not really a traditional AV, everything is much smoother and boot times are faster. Besides that, I use Sandboxie if I am going to do heavy surfing in unknown corners of the internet.

  • Harry

does anyone know what avg stands for?

    • ZOU

I don’t know, but I am pretty certain that their headquarters are in the Czech Republic. I believe that Avast comes from there as well. I think Avira is from Germany, as is GDATA.

  • 123shre

    AVG stands for antivirus guard

    • Harry

      thanks
