KIS 2010…can you say options!

by malwarekilla on July 8, 2009

Now, I just started testing KIS 2010 and I’m completely overwhelmed. Look at all those options! It’s a good and bad thing. Good for all the KIS users out there and bad for me since my review will probably push an hour. Oh well, back to the pre-test…

I must say I am really looking forward to your Kis2010 review. I have been following your website for a while now and it is really informative on security I have learnt so much from your site keep up the good work.

Dont worry Matt. I have using KIS 2010 for weeks now. Need help give me a PM. Cant wait to see your test results.

ryan July 8, 2009 at 10:38 pm

kis has a sand boxie now but in today malware anything you have can slip up i just saw on the news a govermint agency got hacked or something like that

ryan July 8, 2009 at 10:39 pm

norton 2010 i think is better than kis yall see why if he dose has a vid about it im sure he will hes just busy. fighting teh malware

Dieselman July 8, 2009 at 10:55 pm

There is no point in saying this is better then that. All programs have there ups and downs. NIS 2010 is beta. KIS 2010 is official.

ryan July 8, 2009 at 11:44 pm

norton 2010 has less options and has some kind of defence + thing saying you are the first user to have downloaded that file and they still have there up to the minout updates. yes it is a beta… but it has less options and a better user friendly interface for not advanced user or advanced

Dieselman July 9, 2009 at 12:27 am

LOL. What is some kind of D+. Thats Comodo. You mean HIPS? That was implentmented into NIS 2009 already as part of there SONAR. Since Norton did away with Norton there stand alone program.

ryan July 9, 2009 at 12:58 am

you will see what i mean when norton dose not have a defonation it will stop any file from downloading if its not in its defonation data.

ryan July 9, 2009 at 1:04 am

and no norton 2009 did not have this function…..

Dieselman July 9, 2009 at 1:46 am

I used NIS 2009. I should know. Also this is not a Norton topic. It is a KIS topic. So stick to the topic. I am Mod in the forums.

hi matt. I found about v9 in ur wesite.
watin’ 4 the review.
so far i am impressed with the look and i really loved the setting cuz i can customize it to my needs. They fixed few things like the tray icon on v8 wouldn’t change unless for update and now it shows when its scanning or when its findin’ malware. And the sandbox which is pretty awesome.!
Are you going to do only a prevention review or the other one where you install it in a vmware with 1000+ malwares?
Keep up the good work matt. : )

JJ July 9, 2009 at 4:18 am

Dieselman,

Do you have anything else running with KIS 2010? Something like Geswall, AppGuard or Defensewall?

I will probably purchase AppGuard and am wondering if it will work with these new, 2010 internet security suites. Perhaps these suites will make Geswall and AppGuard obsolete and unnecessary.

ryan July 9, 2009 at 6:07 am

iv used norton sense 2005 and yes jj most of the 2010 products have some kind of really good defence like norton and kaspersky

Dieselman July 9, 2009 at 9:03 am

All you need is KIS 2010 JJ. No other security needed. On demand with MBAM and SAS once a week.

evgeny July 9, 2009 at 4:55 pm

TrojanHunter July 9, 2009 at 7:10 pm

I am using the Anti-virus version and there’s some noticeable improvements. Kaspersky Anti-virus 2010 seems to start quicker and the updates seem a little faster too. I also like the new feature that will mark any bad sites within search engines like Google and block access to them, but unlike others Kaspersky doesn’t mark good sites with a green tick.

I look forward to your Kaspersky Internet security 2010 review Matt.

malwarekilla July 9, 2009 at 8:16 pm

@TrojanHunter – Thanks TrojanHunter, I’m going to upload the KIS review Saturday evening.

malwarekilla July 9, 2009 at 8:18 pm

@evgeny – i’m up to 23 malicious URL’s in my pretest…nothing comes close to getting through. So far this is looking like the “Big Daddy” of all-in-one security packages.

malwarekilla July 9, 2009 at 8:21 pm

@Dieselman – Agreed. After working with KIS 2010 for the last few days there isn’t much you really need besides it.

ryan July 9, 2009 at 8:29 pm

mosy internet security mcafee 2010 and nis2010 as well as kis have some kind of sandboxie.

Benny@Juno July 9, 2009 at 11:38 pm

I’m running Xp Anitivirus 2010 and it is great! It caught hundreds of stuff that Norton missed! I bought licenes for me and my freinds. You may want to try it. Can you review it Matt? Thanks.

Dieselman July 10, 2009 at 12:29 am

KIS 2010 is the ONLY security suite with a Sandbox feature. Its called Safe Run. No other security suite has this on demand feature.

malwarekilla July 10, 2009 at 12:52 am

@Benny – I hope you are joking.

Benny@Juno July 10, 2009 at 1:41 am

No…it’s great! I can’t believe how many it caugt….way more than Norton did. IT just keeps finding stuf and I’m amazed how much viruses I had on my PC. My freinds have it now since I bought it for em. It’s finding stuff that Macafee and AVG and Avira all missed.

Dieselman July 10, 2009 at 1:46 am

Benny………no need for posting malware comments. Thanks. Please show your respect to Matt.

ryan July 10, 2009 at 1:57 am

@ benny anti virus 2010 is a rouge security software. lol its not helping your computer at all you need to get rid of that its catching stuff thats not even affecting your computer….

Benny@Juno July 10, 2009 at 1:58 am

Sorry…just thought it would be a good program to test since it has worked so well. I was excited about all it caught.

Michael July 10, 2009 at 2:27 am

Hi,

Looking forward to your video review of KIS 2010. I’ve been running it for about 3 weeks now and really like it alot. I am having one issue however and can’t figure it out. Any program I run in Safe Run (sandbox feature) works fine with the exception of Firefox, or at least there is no green border. I would really like to know what I’m missing.

Dieselman July 10, 2009 at 2:31 am

Sandbox with Firefox 3.5 works great for me.

Michael July 10, 2009 at 3:09 am

Dieselman,

Yeah I’m running 3.5 as well but when I execute it in Safe Run it just opens full screen like normal mode without the green border. I’m just going to do an uninstall and try a clean install. Thanks

Dieselman July 10, 2009 at 3:35 am

Try beta 463.

malwaredestroyer July 10, 2009 at 8:24 am

I think that kaspersky need to add something else in their product. But I just don’t know what….

Victor July 10, 2009 at 9:45 am

Matt,

I’ve read KIS 2010 is one of the best security softwares nowadays, who knows the best one, but there is one question in my mind:
Does KIS 2010 is also a hog computer resources?
I know it depends on PC configuration, but in general what do you think, does KIS 2010 slow down the computer?
Thanks in advance.

Danny July 10, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Hey Matt,
I visit your site everyday. I downloaded a trial version of KIS 2010 last night, but was overwhelmed with all the options. Didn’t understand a lot of it. I am looking forward to your review…but for the time being went back to ESS.

Thanks, Danny.

Nightjar July 10, 2009 at 1:21 pm

Excellent website Matt, please keep up the superb and, as I can imagine, very time consuming work… it’s truly appreciated.

My KIS 2009 licence has just expired and I’m really looking forward to seeing your 2010 review before renewing.

Thanks to everyone else who posts on here too, it really is an excellent site.

Cheers
Paul

kevin July 11, 2009 at 8:51 am

hi, Matt, also looking forward to kis2010 review, thanks for your website. kevin

evgeny July 11, 2009 at 5:59 pm

@malwarekila i think you miss the point, did you read the comment ?
i got in realety 1 torojan 3 i net worms
KIS 2010 is heavy

mastershake September 21, 2009 at 3:30 am

imo compared to version 2009 kis 2010 is a pig. huge slowdowns on more than a dozen systems most of which are brand new with core 2 or quads even a i7…not that the resource usage is high but it causes huge slowdowns

John November 24, 2009 at 3:35 pm

Kaspersky Forever

John November 24, 2009 at 3:38 pm

That security feature in Norton that says if a file is safe or it has been downloaded a few times is called Norton Download Isight, and what it does is just check the file for viruses and if it is trusted, it’s not something special!

Christos November 25, 2009 at 2:26 pm

I got a malware e-mail today and KIS Blocked it, also I tested KIS againist the VX heavens viruses and it blocked them all!!!

Pcfreakske2000 November 25, 2009 at 6:58 pm

Hi all,

I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 for a while now, and so far I’m a satisfied person. Because I have used many other anti-virus products in the past.

Randomguy February 19, 2010 at 11:13 pm

Hey guys,

been using Kaspersrky since their 6.0 was released and moved along the times with them to KIS 2010.

must say KIS 2010 has been taking many steps forward, looking back.

regarding their sandbox & stabilty:
with this new feature of sandbox they have implemented, is still rather raw. seems quite unfinished to me.
not much features and uncustomizable.

been having some stability issues at times when i have disable and re-enable “self-defense”.

other than that this product is a very good overall package!
