Panda Cloud Antivirus Beta 2 News

FYI – I did get another email from Panda:

One of the things we’ll change in the beta2 is the synchronous check against the cloud when executing new programs. This should avoid most of the infections you saw.

I’m glad that they are adding this to beta2 (I assumed it was already there), but IMO I really think they should’ve waited to release this beta until this feature was active.

Do you guys agree?

    If what they say it true this is not even a beta release, you could call it an alpha release and if that is the case it should not have even been released to the public.

    Hey Matt.
    I think that it was simply ridicules releasing it without the thing it is called to be. Maybe the beta was really the real beta and after your review they decided that it’s not enough. By the way I am using NOD32 v.4 for prevention, what do you think about it? Together with NOD I am using windows defender, I know it sucks but I always wanted to know how good is it and you never made a review about it.

    It’s very irresponsible on Panda’s part to release a public beta that is lacking basic protection. Some may assume that it will protect them, despite its beta status…when, in fact, it does not offer protection. The whole point of a beta is that it’s meant to be tested by fire to see if it’s ready. Don’t they understand basic concepts as this?

    LOL…I just went back to their website. It’s moronic how the word ‘beta’ right above the word ‘Antivirus’ in the title is all but invisible. If you squint, you can see it.

    @John – OMG…you’re right. That’s pretty bad considering they asked me to make it VERY clear on my site and YouTube channel.

    They need to take this download down until it’s ready for real action.

    Since they are saying that the major issue is fixed, can you please download the latest version and do a review again? I would like to see how it performs with the malware urls after this fix.

    one scenario is that since they are doing distributive work for panda cloud they may have been first testing the stress on their cloud topology and left out the synchronous check against the cloud when executing new programs to ensure the individual nodes would not lock up if they had problems or brought down their topology.

    If that is so then it doesn’t change the integrity of the scan you reviewed but rather that panda should have been more clear to the public on what the purpose of beta1 was or at least what its limitations are.

    Still, I would feel it would be nice to review the final product so we know where it stands and if this method of thin client -> server protection is viable.
