ComboFix and Vista

by malwarekilla on March 7, 2008

ComboFix was designed for Windows XP (and not Vista). Please heed the warning below:

!!! DO NOT RUN COMBOFIX ON VISTA. IT WILL LEAVE VISTA IN A CORRUPTED STATE THAT IS NOT REPAIRABLE AND WOULD REQUIRE A SYSTEM RELOAD !!!

If crapafee would have stoped the shit in the first place you wouldnt need to run combofix. Anyways combofix works fine in vista for me.

I had a some nasty malware that redirected all of my website navigation and caused some pop-ups. I ran ComboFix on my laptop which has Windows Vista Home Premium and it would not boot after the required restart. It said no bootable device found. However, this was EASILY FIXED. I made a Vista boot disk and used the repair option to correct the issue and I was able to boot back into Windows with no problem. ComboFix then popped up and finished running and removed a lot of junk and some root kits from my machine.

My laptop runs a lot better now and I did not have to reformat or lose my data.

I ran Kittyfix on Windows Vista Home Ultimate. It removed my malware, a fake anti-virus, pretty well. Only my IE8 favourites don’t work now and my internet shortcuts (url extension files) don’t show the “Web Document” tab. How can I fix this?
