New Page: How To Use A Bootable Anti-Malware Disc

I created another set of videos that show you how to use an UBCD4WIN bootable anti-malware disc to remove any malware.  All 4 videos are embedded using the high quality player.

Please +1 this post if you like me :)

Useful stuff, I’m gonna try making one tommorow.

yeah, give it a shot. For removal…it’s THE BEST!

Hi Matt.I’ve seen you using Drweb’s CureIT twice,I think,on your videos, and I’d like to make some suggestions.Don’t try to stop it when it starts. It looks like it is scanning, but it isn’t.It is prepairing for the scan that follows. That’s why you couldn’t stop it.When it actually starts, the pause and stop buttons become green, and then you can stop it.Stop it then, and go to settings area. There you will notice that some kinds of malware like adware are not being removed by default, but only reports them. You can change it to remove them.Mess around with them a little bit,and when you’ve customized it the way you want, then start scanning.I hope I haven’t bored you too much…:-).By the way your videos rock!I mention you everytime I can in the Greek security forum http://www.virus.gr .Check it out sometime if you want.

@Vasilis – Ha! Another Greek! I should have looked at the name a little closer before.

On the Dr. Web stuff…yup, you’re right…I was doing it wrong. I do go into the settings and “crank’em up”. Thanks for the compliments! They are always appreciated.

Off topic: is that your pic in your DP?

  • h47x

I love all of your videos Matt. I watch them all the time.

    Keep ‘em coming.

is it useful to quarantine stuff, even though you are not installing the virus remover on the drive C, because what would it do to the files when you actually start the computer up, does it delete the files, or are they just trapped somewhere on the drive C?

i was wondering if the bootable anti-malware disc works on vista cuz on the website they say they r still testing a beta version for vista. Have u tried it on vista and does it work?

  • Adel

@ matt.. great vides, as always.. much appreciated :)
@ chris.. i think you cant make a cd of/on vista, but i think you could probably use the recovery cd with xp on a vista system – havent tried, so cant confirm ;)

  • chris easton

    Hehe, good idea matt,

Am really gonna use this on friends PC’s when i know its totally infected..

    :)

  • malwarekilla

@3xist – yep, that’s me from Saturday night.

  • malwarekilla

You can make this boot cd on a vista workstation, but it does require XP files.

  • 3xist

You look like my IT guy :)

  • chris

i was wondering instead of a bootable disc, u could use a bootable flash drive with a portable OS, like Linux were u can run ur antimalware products off that.

Hi all I had same issue. Here is a simple work around that has worked for me.
The issue seems to be only on my laptop which has a windows admin account password set.
I fixed the updating issue by the following
1 go to start Control Panel
    2. Go to Administration Tools
    3. Find services
    4. Find COMODO Internet Security Helper Services
    5. go to the Log on tab and set your account name and password.
    Restart you computer.
Caution do not run the comodo Diagnostics as this will return the settings back to standard and you will have to change the services again.
    Hope this works for you
PS dont get the issue on my pc without password set.
    ******

Otherwise, Hope a fix comes soon! I don’t have any updating problems, but alot do, So it’s a mystery. Sorry Matt for this OT comment mate!

GL AL. P.S – I retired as a Global Mod from the COMODO Forums.

    Cheers,
    Josh
