Nope, never heard of Kingsoft. Nice to see my AV is 2nd best, Avira!

  • Diablosblizz

Kingsoft is a new antivirus software out of China, apparently. Too bad Comodo wasn’t included in the test.

McAfee is a big suprise to me, i help clean a lot of pc’s with Mcafee (and a few others….)

  • malwarekilla

@927 – Yeah, that one really shocked me since I see so many badly infected computers running McAfee. I recently just move 150 workstations from McAfee to Vipre Enterprise…ram usuage went from about 140 to 25. The client is now discovering “a ton” of malware that was running on their network.

I think McAfee Needs a little more work. They are just a epic fail from Norton.

  • runoades

G Data and Avira normal but McAfee? Is best? omg. What a big surprize.

  • Pedrothelemsipkid

McAfee doing so well in the latest tests after a few bad years? how did that happen!? Must be the cloud method.
Why is McAfee’s “Cloud method” doing okay and companies such as Panda & Trend Micro are not doing so well?

Have you any thoughts on the cloud method Matt?

Keep up the good work my friend.

    Respect

    Mcafee in top 3…
Well since I KNOW Mcafee is BAD… it’s a big SHOCK to see how BAD “AV-Comparatives” Comparative are getting.

I read somewhere that they wanted to do “new” reviews, using HIPS and prevention… and some time passed since then.

  • ripcord

Just wonder why Vipre antivirus+spyware is never included in any of these test.

  • elliotcroft

Mcafee… The third best?! That resource hogging piece of crap! Avira seems the best choice since it does not have as many fulse positives as Gdata and only has 00.1 percent less detection rate!

  • http://www.youtube.com/bestSVMS f

i think that test is on really old viruses

    mcafee doesnt detect that much

    i use avira

    kingsoft never heard of it
    it sucks though
    so theres no point
and comodo want included because it failed the previus test

I’m not surprised McAfee is doing so well, they’re empire is huge and they have thousands of people working for them… The main problems lies with their software slows down your computer and doesn’t remove effectively

  • Sean bond

    where is ESET?

  • elliotcroft

Where is SAS? Where is MBAM? Where is SD With AV? Wasn’t GData the best AV you reviewed as well Matt? Avira is placed well, Is this the free version? (I have it with Kaspersky! It was said to be incompatible with Kaspersky, but I love avira!)

  • Phenom

You all got it wrong.. its McAfee new feature in their products. McAfee Artemis helps McAfee detects more threats even the new ones. They acquired secure computing.

  • Cloud_Shadow

Mcafee did well as the “in the cloud” technology was enabled, without that it didn’t do that good, around 95% detection.

And besides this was a test showing how much malware one Av can remove, not about, which slows down the pc most.

  • Jimmy James

Mcafee’s new Artemis thing is really good at detecting malware, I believe the problems lie with Mcafee not having frequent updates
