Live Search Adds Malicious Site Protection

Live.com has implemented “safe searching” to their index.  If you stumble upon a malicious link Live.com will issue a popup telling you that the site is Malicious and may harm your computer.

If you really want to visit the website they provide a link at the bottom of the popup. It’s a great move for live.com since so many users have msn.com as their homepage (and search engine)!

Please +1 this post if you like me :)

Another good browser add on i think most people would like is the WoT ,web of trust, add on not only will it flag a redirect site it will also put a color coded ring on the link you are about to click. Also if you’re unsure about the site that it flagged as yellow or orange or even red you can right click the ring and go to a page by WoT to see why its flagged. It can be dl’d from http://www.mywot.com/

This is good news that search engines implement this kind of service.Yahoo has something the same in partnership with McAfee SiteAdvisor. I use both myWOT and SiteAdvisor and they do a very good job together and i think you should promote this on your blog too Matt. Norton has something the same called Safe Web an addon for NIS 2009 . Personaly i think SiteAdvisor is moore accurate because it didn’t rely 100% on user reviews and the job is done in a moore professional way. I think is a very good thing ,people need this new kind of protection .BTW SiteAdvisor wad downloaded almost 50 milion times in the first 6 months from launching. Matt also you should see this http://securebrowsing.finjan.com/ i use it and it scans in real time .
