On April Fools day (April 1) I would suggest to keep you r computers off. There is a Aprils fools virus that is called Conficker C. This virus could erase your computer or just make it really hard to use. Please check out this link that yahoo has put out for everyone.

Please stay safe on April fools day and turn OFF your computer.

Why is it that Avira always has to let one trogan through, if i’m not wrong it did the same in the last test.

Please…record at a lower volume. You’re pinning and distorting like a madman. Simply TURN DOWN THE RECORD LEVELS.
It’s difficult to even make it through an otherwise great review (s).
This is the case with 99% of your videos.
Just TURN IT DOWN, please.

Stay safe, install linux and VM Windows…if you dont want to do that then just install COMODO Internet Security…it Rocks blocking conficker.A.B.C.D.E.F.G.H………

Sweet , nice review, and many thanks go to the people from the Avira team, a really good free AV, I think it worth to buy the premium versions to support them.
About Conflicker, to avoid it just be sure that you have the latest updates for Windows OS . To prevent this menace just uninstall the ,,Client for Microsoft networks” and ”File anf printers sharing” protocols from and you will get rid of the server.exe service which it is used by Conflicker as a way to infect PC’s, usually most home PC’s do not need those protocols, I did this and my PC runs with no problems. The bad news is that new versions use the RPC service to infect PC’s so to have a up to date OS is a must to prevent this.

you don’t have to be worried about Conficker C.. if your pc is updated, then the exploit doesn’t work anymore

Your volume is fine… ’sound engineer’ doesn’t have a clue.

Great review !
Video and sound quality is awesome now ! And I did not pick any sound delay.

It’s weird to see AVIRA loading malware to the system and catching it later.
A lot of antivirus do that. The “Shield/Guard Scanner” fails but the “on-demmand/manual scanner” works great.

That’s why IT is a GOOD idea to ALWAYS scan your downloads before executing then. Just right click your download and do a manual scan.

And Matt, please whenever you find something that ” passes through ” you could raise the heuristic of the AV and see if the AV fails on a second test.

Also, you had 2 broken malware links in this review. I know that it’s not easy to find “fresh stuff” but it would be good to have a complete “10″ test.

Well, good job !
Keep up the good work !

Thanks for the review. After seeing that performance I uninstalled comodo internet security and reinstalled it as just the defense+ and firewall. I now use avira and it really rocks. It’s even better after touching up the settings. I glad to use another application with early load. I wish all Antiviruses had that.

I noticed that Avira 9 doesn’t automatically check for updates of either scan enngine or virus definition files. After installing you need to hit update, also, I’ve found AntiVir to be a lot more efficient when heuristics and scan and guard settings are all set to high. I have been cleaning computers with AntiVir for about 8 years now, it’s awesome German software if I do say so myself.
