Comodo Internet Security 3.8 still eating CPU alive!

Well I was hoping the bug fix from the 19th would take care of the CPU issues when Comodo Antivirus is enabled, but it bug still resides (at least for me). If I disable the Antivirus, CPU usage returns to normal. See screenshots below.

Figure 1 – CPU at 100% when Comodo Antivirus is turned on

Figure 2 – CPU at 7% when Comodo Antivirus is turned off.

Strange.. I dont have this problem.. Im using it on a XP Pro 32bit and Vista 64bit.

  • malwarekilla

    @Dan – yeah, I figured it’s random. Maybe it’s a Vmware issue.

  • Dan

Will you be showing a review on this new release.?

  • malwarekilla

@Dan – Yeah, I’m uploading the install, config and prevention one tonight.

  • Dan

    Great, thanks..

  • Dan

    How about the Removal..?

  • malwarekilla

@Dan – Possibly tonight or tomorrow. It’s not going to be too flattering though.

  • Dan

Sad to hear.. Just remember, that the Anti-Malware Database is not up-to-date, and will not be until monday, they hope..

I dont know if that could give it a bad result..

  • 3xist

New Database is not released yet… Everything will be normal on Monday.

  • darcjrt

It will show awful results as the database is a test DB and it had not even half the malware they have on the full DB.

BTW I’m using Vista Ultimate 32 bit and XP SP3 with no problems at all on CPU or Memory usage.

  • 3xist

    Matt,

I strongly urge you to wait for the new DB to be released. Not all signatures are there yet… It should be normal on Monday.

On Saturday though, It will be released (21st/2), But to be safe… Monday is the one where everything will be normal again.

    Cheers,
    Josh

@3xist – Ok Josh, I’ll push off the Comodo reviews until next week. I’ve got some other stuff to upload for this weekend.

  • darcjrt

    Excellent decision!
You wont regret it. I think CIS is a great product.
And it will be awesome when the new heuristics engine gets introduced to see a review from you.

  • malwarekilla

@darcjrt – agreed, it’s one of my favorites, that’s why I’m giving it a few more days.

  • clocks

So Comodo released a final version without it’s complete virus db? Why not make it a beta release? If I understand this situation correctly, it seems like a poor decision on Comodos part.

  • malwarekilla

@clocks – I totally agree. Why the rush?

  • clocks

I am a big Comodo fan, but they seem to be getting sloppy lately.

  • 3xist

They couldn’t make the conversion of sigs without releasing CIS v3.8 first, otherwise existing users will be messed up…

It was either that or invest in a whole new infrastructure with MONTHS of efforts.

On Monday, everything will resume again. It was a hard choice for them.

    Cheers,
    Josh

Ok, Im still using 3.5. Should I update to 3.8? Theres a pop up saying to do so

And 1 more thing. CIS says

    System Status:

The Defense+ is not functioning properly!

    Please run diagnostic utility

When I run diagnostic, the result

Diagnostic utilities did not find any problems

  • Dan

@ 3xist – It a very good idea to update to the newest v3.8.. Its alot better…

But remember to do a complete uninstall of 3.5 before you install 3.8..

  • Rostyk

so when will the review of version 3.8 be ready?
