Please give DriveSentry a go, its got a big thread running on Wilders.

Looking forward to the Twister review.

  • Jonas

    Antimalware applications you should test:

    Sophos Antivirus
    Norman Antivirus
    Ad-aware Pro

    Jonas

  • malwarekilla

thanks Jonas, I’ll add those to my list now.

  • Somone

looking forward to CIS review, i know that the AV is still young but i still want to know how it peforms

  • iso

    Twister.

other av already tested by other guys
    Twister AV never tested.

    you must be first

  • 113

    Spyhunter and Spyzooka please.

  • 113

oh and CA as well. I sent you some files over youtube about 3 months ago and you never reviewed it >:(

    (no hard feelings though)

  • Ian

Ad-aware Pro seems to be useless.

  • i-live-on-mars

You got to try CA Internet Security. I know it sucks, but I want to see how bad it really is! ^.^

    Your videos are great!!!

  • diana

hi matt can you do a review on avira premium thank you

  • f

I have never heard of twister av. I dont think its going to do that well. You should do ratings about ram and cpu usage.
You should do ratings for the gui of Comodo Internet Security and Mcafee Internet Security 2009.
You should test the programs on virustotal.com and virscan.org.
    You should test AhnLab (V3).
What is the best free antivirus, i dont like avira because it has big blinking ads.

    Thanks in advance

  • juraj j

    Hey Matt,

Try out Spyware Terminator with antivirus there is a free download on download.com, I use it as part of my protection and it has really helped me repair my computer from previous virus attacks.

  • malwarekilla

Spyhunter is almost a rogue and Spyware Terminator is junk…no offense :)

  • Daniel Armao

Iso Spyhunter and SpyZooka suck in general
    http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/spyzooka.com
For Spyhunter there is a load of red reviews and vendor reliability is yellow(bad)
    http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/enigmasoftware.com

I would like to see a Norman or Mcafee review

  • AV-Guy

    Hi again Matt,

I think two other reviews people will find useful are a complete review of Avast’s “Thorough” scan feature, as well as Spybot. Your last review of Avast only scanned using the boot-time scan, which in some instances I have found to be less effective than the thorough scan. Also a review of Spybot may prove to be pretty useful, as it is still a very popular malware remover.

    Cheers.

  • 3xist

    Hi Matt.

I am a Global Moderator at the COMODO Forums, Thank you very much for choosing to Review CIS.

The is still young… But CIS also has Defense+ (HIPS) to “PREVENT” Malware in the first place, And then the Antivirus to “DETECT” it, But as always, Prevention should be your first line of defense, because NO AV can catch 100% malware under the sun!

I hope you review How Defense+ performs also, The layered Security approach.

    Josh

  • 3xist

Sorry Matt – Just saw you only test Product detection & Removal, Never mind. :)

    Josh

  • Ismail

Hey Matt could you do a review on Avira Premium

  • f

This is to the Global Moderator at the COMODO Forums

I find the prevention thing kinda annoying, so i would prefer a smart one, and a better av. If you could make the prevention thing real quiet and with some behavior analysis, a rock solid av, then your product will be awesome. The firewall needs some behavior anaysis.

    to: Matt
You should still test how the whole set up works, get a clean virtual machine, install comodo, and then go crazy on the inernet and see how messed up it gets in 1 month.

  • malwarekilla

@ Comodo guys – I’m testing Comodo right now. Here are a few things I’d love (maybe I’m just missing them)

    - Allow ME to target and KILL a process. Then quarantine the binary.
    - Rootkit detection/removal

anyway…still testing against some of the most vicious malware out there.

  • Jon

Hey I was wondering if you can test PC Tools Antivirus Free. Also Bitdefender’s free antivirus, I would like to see how good it is

  • Daniel

Hey mat. There is this new program that i’ve just come across (on lifehacker) Its called “Hitman Pro” (http://www.hitmanpro.nl/hitmanpro/ ) which uses an impressive 8 engines

  • mike

hey mat i was wondering if you can test eEye Digital Security

  • f

    Thanks for testing Comodo
    Pc Tools is ok
Bitdefender free is bad because it has no on demand scanner
Never heard of hitmanpro- i think its fake because the link is hitmanpro but on the website its called higmanpro

  • f

I know this is off topic, but i don’t know where to post it.
Do you think Mcafee SiteAdvisor is useful and accurate?
How about the addont wot (web of trust). How about Trendprotect from trend micro.
I know they are just addons, but can you test how accurate they are at rating sites?

    Thanks

  • http://youtube.com/azlan96 AZLAN210396

    @f

McAfee Site Advisor is not accurate. It rate ProAntiSpyware2009(a rogue) as Green

  • f

    - AZLAN210396
I know its not entirely accurate, but in general, is it good?
No source is going to be 100% accurate

  • Vettetech
  • i-live-on-mars

    @ Vettetech

That was Avira Free, we all want to see how Avira Premium(paid) is XD

  • Adel

    Agnitum Outpost Pro Security Suite

You’ve mentioned most of the other ones.. so its all cool :)

  • http://youtube.com/azlan96 AZLAN210396

@f Mcafee site advisor is preety good. But it just scan the main webpage

  • 3xist

    Matt:

Thank you, We are looking forward to the review of Comodo Internet Security.

    Josh

  • James

I think you should have a malware removing death-match between MalwareBytes and SUPERantispyware…

  • Adel

    @ James… MBAM will be crushed ;)

  • malwarekilla

@ James – I use both SAS and MBAM on every call and I can tell ya both pickup a different mix of crap. I wish they would improve their rootkit detection and removal abilities.

  • malwarekilla

@ adel – I’m adding Agnitum Outpost Pro Security Suite

  • malwarekilla

    I’m adding f-prot

  • 927

one thing that is importat to remeber when you scan whith mbam is that you do one more fast scan after the roboot. depending on what infection, there can be new malware the second time. this can happen when you “try” to remove vundo.
like: 1st scan: 100 malware removed. 2nd scan: 12 malware removed and third 2 malware removed

how good is PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition ??

  • http://www.1b2a.tk Dylan

Could you please review Ca internet security suite 2009 plus.

    Thanks,
    Dylan

  • Chris

hey matt, IE sucks i know that and i use firefox. i was just wondering how the opera web browser does compared to firefox. in terms of adware/popups and in other security areas. i was thinking of giving opera i try cuz i heard its fast.

  • James

You should test the Avira Boot CD and see how well the Pro does

  • Emperor Darius

Hey man PC Tools IS uses the same engine that Spyware Doctor with Antivirus uses, but with PC tools Firewall and Threatfire also. So I think that you don’t really need to review it, since it would score the same as Spyware Doctor With AV

  • Emperor Darius

    Another thing,

I think that you should wait for Spybot to release version 2.0 before testing. I don’t think that it would be any good, but whatever.

  • 927

it would be nice to see the deference between avira free and premium

  • Emperor Darius

    I agree with 927

I’d like to see an Avira premium review too

  • Jonas

    ey 927,
aint you the swedish Antivirus expert at the Swedish forum “pchemma.se” ?

  • sdg

check out spywaredoctor with antivirus 6 starter edition. It is a free version of spyware doctor with antivirus. Lets see how much it can remove compared to the paid version. You might be able to offer to your costumers instead of Antivir free.

  • Adel

    @ Matt…..

CIS will be a very interesting one :)
Btw they have CIS and CIS Pro… The Pro version is available for download too..
For your review the free version will be fine.. but i think if you review the Pro, we could get to see the extra features and complete GUI of Comodo :)

Btw, theres one… QUICK HEAL from india..
    http://www.quickheal.co.in/

…..and seems like Bit Defender is going crazy, a new product for gamers (yawn)
    http://www.bitdefender.com/media/html/gamesafe.html?na_usa_itxt_link=gamesafe_moreinfo_firstpage

  • 927

there is a very good app from sunbelt that’s called counterspy, i used it in 2006 and at that time it was as good as spyware doctor but is it now? test it! the trial should work fine

  • Scott

    Hi Matt,

    How about some removal tools

    Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool
    Dr.WEB CureIt!
    Norman Malware Cleaner

All three applications are updated frequently if not daily.

I grab a new copy of each at http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/ at least once a week.

    BTW Great site :-)

    Scott

  • James Baldwin

You should try Zonealarm, heard it uses the same engine as kaspersky (not really sure though)

  • Jonas

I agree with James, try Zonealarm, yes, ZoneAlarm use Kasperskys Antivirus engine.

  • Emperor Darius

@Jonas, you are right, Zone Alarm uses the Kaspersky 6 engine(like F-Secure)

  • http://youtube.com/azlan96 AZLAN210396

Would you review Norton 360? The current version (v3) was updated with the IS 2009 engine, so I really would like to see how Norton 360 does. Thank you very much and stay as you are, you do a fantastic job!

  • Atomas31

    Hi Matt,

Would you review Malware Defender 2.3.1 (http://www.torchsoft.com/en/md_information.html)

    Thanks,

  • David

Would you be able to review Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11.0.x? I am interested in seeing how a corporate solution compares to these free solutions. I have not been too happy with SEP and I find other stuff catches more than it can.

    Thanks

  • s

why dont u do bitdefender 2010 its been out for a week or 2

  • max

Hey mat! Love your reviews! can you plz test outpost security pro. TO me there is nothing better since there is no footprint just protection and speed! I also use sandboxie with this and dont see a need for anything else.Browser FF WOT Addblock.Even if it misses a few which I hope it doesnt I would not ever change a thing thats what sandboxie is for. speed of surf and fast computing should go hand and hand with security.

  • Max

Mat! whats up! I have seen the comodo review very nice app and its free!was wondering if you would consider testing just the fire wall since you can opt out of av and see just defense+ at work and if it does same job it will cut down on memory and processes.

  • lee

Maybe a re-review on Vipre, I’d like to see if Sunbelt worked out some of the issues that you had with it in your original review.

    Also, maybe Bitdefender AV 2010.

  • AHOPF

I Would like to see a review of Shardana Antivirus Rescue Disk Utility
