GeSWall 2.8 is a free intrusion prevention system (not an antivirus) that can protect your PC from anything without requiring daily updates (like a typical antivirus application).
GeSWall prevents intentional or unintentional downloads from modifying your operating system in any damaging way, and by damaging I mean downloads that may:
Per GeSWall's website:
The generic rules for an isolated application are that the application:
1. Can read but cannot modify trusted resources.
2. Cannot read or modify confidential resources.
3. May create new untrusted resources, e.g. files.
4. May read or modify untrusted resources.

Have you tried GesWall against file infectors?
Because their free version did exactly nothing against Virut.
It’s a great piece of security software indeed. But, I wouldn’t use it alone against everything out there.
Also, there is still the need for antimalware products, because it’s up to to the antimalware to say – Hey, this is a piece of malware.
Products like GesWall, DefenseWall HIPS, Sandboxie, etc, are great tools, but they should be used in a layered security. They’re a great way for people, in the of their browsing, for example, say I want to keep this and that files, and lose everything else.
What people don’t know, and they will still allow it to run, and would have no reason not to, is if the file has been tampered or not.
It’s possible to read word, pdf, etc documents in an isolated environment, but, if we’re talking about applications, and if they got tampered, there’s just no way to know if something is suppose to be happening or not, and people would just trust the known application, like the one you gave example of, CCleaner.
So, antimalware products aren’t outdated. The only thing is that, nowadays, no single tool can keep up with the malware evolution. Simple fact. That’s why a layered security approach is needed, starting with limited user accounts.
You said it yourself that you use Avira free just in case, right?

Awesome review !
Great video and Sound quality.
Loved the yellow mouse shadow.
The only thing I did not liked was the “loud” mouse click sound.
Keep up the good work !
Layered Security:
Prevention
Detection
Cure
You need all 3 to provide protection, Can’t just have a Prevention solution by it self or a detection solution by it self.
Cheers,
Josh
can you please turn off the artifiual click sounds?
i find that kinda annoying
and you fixed the adio sycn problems
nice
layerd securtiy the best
how awesome would be a sute made of norton av+behavior detection+firewall+avira 9.0 for detection too+ comodo for hips in like an advanced mode+geswall
that would be pretty much garenteed proctection
unless you go crazy and turn stupid and stuff
nothing is stupid proof
and if it was free…
