AdwCleaner – Remove Malicious Adware and Toolbars with a Click of the Button

Last night I sat down to use my desktop PC.  I hadn’t been on it for a few days since I usually use my laptop.  I opened Chrome and did a search and was immediately presented with multiple Adbars and popunders.  I was like wtf!!! 👿

Now, I knew I hadn’t done this but I had an idea who had….the Wife.  She told me she needed to convert one of her iPhone videos.   Not wanting to waste anymore time I downloaded a program called AdwCleaner.  AdwCleaner quickly scans your PC for Junk software and presents you with a detailed log.  You can remove the Junkware by pressing the delete button.

Here’s my log.  Thanks Honey.

@Matt: I have used ADwCleaner to get rid of the annoying Babylon toolbar, and it is an excellent program. I would thoroughly recommend it, to get rid of all the rubbish, can get installed on your PC if you are not careful when installing free software

Yeah, it’s definitely in my USB toolkit. I’m going to add it to the toolkit section on the site today.

Cool! This seems like an interesting subject for a video seeing as how so many antiviruses have trouble with adware (or, at least did in your older videos). Are you going to make a video on it?

I just tried it Matt. AWESOME. Thanks for this share.

Thanks for the recommendation. I tested it out in a video I made today

I used this recently and after I deleted some junk with it I opened my Google Chrome and apparently it erased the settings file so I had to set it back up.

Wouldn’t surprise me it a very powerful tool, to be used with caution

When I tried to use it avg came up that adwcleaner was a threat..

    • Simon January 28, 2013 at 2:41 pm #

Thats just a False-Positive, you can probably change that within AVG’s settings
