Comodo 4 Internet Security New Features

by malwarekilla on March 11, 2010

Since I’m getting ready to review Comodo 4 I thought I’d post what the changes/new features are:

Whats New in COMODO Internet Security 4.0.135239.742?

NEW! Seamless livePCsupport Integration
This version has a built-in Live Support for getting instant help from the experts for any type of problems.
NEW! New User Interface Theme
A new user interface theme has been introduced with this version.
NEW! New Web Based Installer
Now, there is a single setup file which downloads and installs the required products according to operating system the computer has. The product installers are created with Microsoft Windows Installer for native installation/uninstallation support.
NEW! Integrated Sandbox
Proactive Defense i.e. Defense+ now includes a built-in sandbox which combines file system/registry virtualization and least-privileged user account principle in order to combat with unknown malware.
IMPROVED! Default Deny Protection
Defense+ now automatically sandboxes all unknown applications/executables until they are analyzed.
IMPROVED! Significantly fewer number of popup alerts
Defense+, with the help of new sandboxing technologies, has a more powerful default security policy while having significantly fewer number of alerts compared to previous versions.
Also in this version, Defense+ and Firewall, by default, do not create automatic rules for already known safe applications.
IMPROVED! Popup alerts layout
The new popup alerts now include additional options which allow the users to take COMODO Time Machine snapshots or set Windows system restore points, submit suspicious files for immediate analysis.
IMPROVED! Antivirus Engine
Antivirus engine is improved for better detection and cleaning. The new engine now has disinfection support for the infected files.
A new command line virus scanner (cavscan.exe) has been introduced in order to address the need for scanning the computers in windows or scanning files transferred from MSN etc.

My Comodo 4 Internet Security review and test structure:

  • cover some of the new features (sandbox demo)
  • pit comodo against 10 zero-day threats (non-sandboxed)

It’ll be interesting. Hey Matt, when are you doing to upload the review on youtube?

malwarekilla March 11, 2010 at 6:38 pm

I’ll probably upload the test against the 10 zero-day threats tonight by 10 PM C.S.T.

This suite is so big I’m going to chop it up into a few videos…give me somethin’ to talk about for awhile. :P

Thanks Matt, just take your time…

KinderMan March 11, 2010 at 8:22 pm

Matt, you made this one of the most exciting sites I ever used.
I check it every day waiting for new reviews :D
Keep them coming :P

PS:I am also waiting for the Avira 10 review :D

GakunGak March 11, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Avira is still beta, as far as I know, he won’t do beta’s anymore.

KinderMan March 11, 2010 at 8:42 pm

As far as I know Matt from his reviews, he never did it apart from a few very good antivirus that were getting out of beta, eg. Microsoft Security Essentials, Panda Cloud :)

Nice info, will wait for videos.

@KinderMan – correct, people would beg me to review the beta and then say…”uhhh…this is BS…it’s only a beta”. …so…finals only.

Great youtube review on Comodo’s Internet security suite. It swayed me into trying it and so far i’ve had no problems … thank you

malwarekilla, do you agree that a-squared Anti-Malware 4.5 is the best and most bullet proof security ever? I do, i can’t get anything past it.

Anonymous March 14, 2010 at 10:38 am

No. Asquard is not the most bullet proof security ever? What the hell.

A-Squared is based on DETECTION technologies. So if a malware isn’t detected, or detected by behaviour blocker, your pretty much finished. bye bye. CIS 4 is ALMOST bullet proof, because it uses a WHITELISTING approach, and BLACKLISTING for usability purposes.

CIS 4 makes sure unknown apps, that are not found safe by comodo yet, are sandboxed. this includes any malware. A squad does not do this or similar. SO CIS 4 can prevent virtually any threat… thats bullet proof.

Matt->
Do you find CIS better than KIS?

Comodo Internet Security 5 is in beta now, and it has added some sort of cloud based threat protection, and that reduced the number of sandboxing times.
I would like you to test it out when it is released, it is not yet on comodo’s website, but I expect it will be on their website as soon as it is released.
It is amazing, as far as I can see, almost no threats can bypass comodo.
Check it out on youtube if you wish to.
