MicrosoftAntivirus Rogue (fake antivirus)

It’s shocking that it took this long, but someone has finally made a rogue that uses the Microsoft name. MicrosoftAntivirus is a rogue AntiVirus application (a fake) that mimics the OneCare interface. If you get infected with MicrosoftAntivirus you can remove it any of the applications listed below:

  • Malwarebytes Antimalware
  • SuperAntiSpyware
  • Kaspersky
  • Spyware Doctor

Please +1 this post if you like me :)

HAHA YES indeed, it took quite a time for someone to think out that “maybe we shall use Microsoft in the name” HAHA wow i bet this will be the worst one.
I mean the rouge that will be used by most people cause they will indeed belive that it is Microsoft that have developed it.

So maybe Microsoft should put out a warning on their website something like:
“Microsoft is not associated with MicrosoftAntivirus in anyway”
DANGER do not use it !-).

But of course people that LOVE to download wouldn’t listen to that warning anyway i guess!

  • Opalfruit

this should be easy to avoid as most people in the know stay well away from anything microsoft but it will catch the every day user out quite easily i think the best thing people could do when they get these messages saying someting like WARNING YOUR PC IS INFECTED!!!!!!!! is just google it google the name and you shall find

microssoft onceare sucks, so why anyone would fall for it

and sue all the rouges for us

    thanks

Theres one rogue that really really really really really looks the same as Windows Defender

Soon i think some rouge makers will name their next Rouge like SymantecAntivirus !-) or similar!

Since Symantec’s product line is named Norton and not Symantec as the company name.

Eset got NOD32 but it doesn’t stop the rouge makers to make an fake AV
    called EsetAntivirus for example !-)

FOR MATT A bit offtopic though…

Watch this YouTube video, is says it is Comodos Antivirus.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOOjqZzvn4w <<<

BUT clearly it’s NOT CIS or any pat of CIS. It is a total FAKE!

WARNING do NOT go in on that website recommended in the video!!!

  • Johan

Well i just reviewd the guys profil that uploaded the FAKE AV video.

And that wasen’t he’s only fake AV video. He got a lot and he have been flaged
many times but still he is on youtube, the staff need to work faster on this case since this user is quite a big problem!!!

  • opalfruit

its AV09 i downloaded it to my VPC i used a combo of SAS MBAM and Avira free to kill it and dint even have to go into safe mode

  • Johan

you mean on the LINK that is in the movie?

However, I don’t get why it should take this long time to get this user out of youtube. The video on the link i provided was uploaded on DEC 24!
So it’s quite some time it has been available on youtube.
I think the Google staff need to work faster on this case!

  • opalfruit

yes the link takes you to a site that tells you you are infected with all sorts and tells you yo download AV09 to get rid of them the funny thing was after av09 finished its fake scan it didn’t pick up the same things as the website did witch i found amusing

  • malwarekilla

@Johan – yeah, I’ve seen that before. I can’t believe it’s been on youtube for months now!

  • Jimmy James

I downloaded that Antivirus 2009 and Spyware Doctor pwned it with ease

  • opalfruit

yes but my point was with no money spent and no annual fees i killed it without having to go in to safe mode

  • Jimmy James

I think I used the free version of spyware doctor to remove it…

  • Jimmy James

I mean the starter edition thing

  • opalfruit

oh fair enough i still think for free anyi virus you cant beat avira

  • Eric
