Ad-Aware Total Security TESTED by ballader1

Postby ballader1 » Sat Dec 04, 2010 7:29 am

I couldn't find a "Lavasoft Talk" or an "Ad-aware talk" forum so I decided to post this here.

Video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmznV6494D8

The test was done a WEEK ago, but I uploaded it today.
Anyways, I don't think that things like the detection, removal and system impact can massively change in 1 week.

@ryan I agree.

@iamsoadude I think that they introduced the 2nd engine last year, but I am NOT sure.

Doesn't AATS use the VIPRE AV engine?

Ad-Aware is still junkware, imo.

It was good back in the day, when Ad-Aware 1.06 was around.

Lavasoft Releases Dual-Engine Ad-Aware Total Security
They've released this Dual-Engine technology in July , 2010

As for the test.
G-data Total Security ......oh sorry ....,i meant to say Ad-Aware Total Security  , performed great.
However if you want to buy a security suite ,why should you buy a rebranded one ...why not buy the original ?..

A little tip on how you can improve your videos.

I noticed that your video has background noises and the volume of your voice is too low.

Removing backround noises :

As for the volume of your voice ,you just need to move up the volume button.

Thanks for the video,.

Ad-Aware Total Security is using - G-data and Lavasoft antivirus engine

I'm a bit confused. G data uses Avast and BitDefender engines in it's products. So when you say Ad aware uses lavasoft and G data, do you mean Lavasoft, Avast and Bitdender? or does G data has it's own engine?

@pranaygtr In the test it blocked everything.
@SSS20 I ALWAYS remove background noises when I am using Camtasia. I was far from the mic and I was using Camstudio (Camtasia had a problem, but it was fixed after reinstalling so my next vid will be with camtasia.)

@ALL please check out my other videos, i have a total of 80 so if we subtract 1 we have 79 videos that you can watch ;D

Just because it managed to block everything in a single test, doesn't mean Ad-Aware is any good.

How much was blocked/detected by Lavasoft and not G-Data?

What about other aspects?
  • System Performance/Impact
  • Cost/License
  • Support

BTW, did you test the Download Guard, it never works when I have tried it.

@pranaygtr I tested the TS version of Ad-Aware with all the components enabled (why don't you watch the video?) and it blocked everything. I am not talking of which one blocked more (Lavasoft or G Data), I am talking about the whole product. I noticed that it was kind of light on CPU, but it had a high memory usage (around 80 MB)

At the moment, I cannot view the video.

Did you use the Download Guard? :)
