@jmc333

I am not sure about the possiblity of updating drivers in safe mode. I don't see harm in giving it a try. Though safe mode utilizes a limited number of drivers, as long as you are in safe mode with networking, I don't see why you could not update drivers. Your PC is so fouled up. If safe mode is your only option, try it.

FYI: Device Manager should show a red X by any hardware that has undergone a change or is not functioning properly.

The fact that ComboFix stopped running tells me it is most likely a hardware problem. I have never known of ComboFix to stop running in the middle of a scan on even the most infected PC's.

EDIT: It is even more rare for ComboFix to crash in Safe Mode.

Sorry for the late replies. I'll try and update the drivers in safe mode.

As for combo fix, I'm not sure if it's important but it actually froze before the scan started. Not sure if that's as rare as you were saying? (in comparison to combofix freezing whilst scanning)

Memtest86 can be downloaded here. To burn it to a disk you can use the windows burner or IMGBurn.

Nothing is highlighted in red in device manager? should i not bother with updating them and move onto Memtest? or should i update anyways. I was just thinking that updating all those drivers would take an entire day, but if thats what you guys want me to do i'll be glad to do it.

EDIT: I downloaded Memtest86 and put it onto a disk via img burn. Is it just a bootable thing?

Also, how do i run CHKDSK C: /r

Go ahead and run memtest now. Forget about the drivers.

Memtest runs from a CD on system boot, if that is what you are asking.

You can boot onto memtest86. To boot from it press any key when your PC prompts you to "Press any key to boot from CD". If you do not see this prompt you need to set your CD to the first boot device in your BIOS. To run CHKDSK, open command prompt (Start>Run/Search>cmd.exe) and type the following (without quotes): "CHKDSK.exe C: /r". If it asks you to run CHKDSK next time the system restarts, do it.

Post the results here

It says "Pass complete" so that's a pretty good sign that it finished. ;) You can safely restart your computer at that point.
