another suggestion, you might want to run a free Dr.Web CureIt scan. just in case, there are still some leftover bits, like patching viruses running in your system.

Well I'm going to try this ComboFix as it doesn't like the sound of Avira. Still can't install it.

If that doesn't work, then its time for Linux. :)

Actually, quick question- Do I need to wipe my hard drive (via dBan) or can I just install OVER Windows?

why would you want to install Windows over your current Windows right now, if everything's already cleaned up. if you had always had it in mind to re-install Windows, you should just have formatted the system and have a fresh new breath of life.

hahaha, alright then. hope you had fun. the arsenal you used against your infected machine is powerful enough, really. i don't think you need to worry about those stray left over pieces. a few temporary files cleanup would do the trick.

I'm talking about installing Linux over Windows. Can I do this, or do I need to wipe my HD first?

No clue.

And I'm not at the "safe spot" yet. I get a Norton message every time I go online, and the computer is running EXTREMELY slow online as well. I'm far from done. I also can't install Avira, which is a problem. This is why I've been considering just Linux-ing it, this was just an attempt to learn to remove malware.
