Avast! 6.0.986 BETA Refresh

Postby pranaygtr » Sun Feb 20, 2011 10:19 am

What's new in this beta:
pretty much all the bugs from the previous beta builds should be solved now, with the following exceptions:
- Firewall: uTorrent conflict not yet fully resolved
- Firewall: packet rules for applications still don't support ASK and AUTO-DECIDE actions properly.
- Incorrect context-menu handling in SafeZone
- Other small visual issues in SafeZone

They also added .. "Protected by avast! antivirus" .. on the Windows Start-up Boot Screen (confirmed on Windows 7).

You'll either love it or hate it. ;)

I think it looks pretty sick! :D

Thanks, I installed it. I''m not a fan of the boot-screen.

I did some tests today, most everything was caught by the web and network shields, so I ended up disabling that to see how the sandbox worked. I tested maybe 5 after that, 2 were sandboxed, 2 were detected by signatures, and one slipped through. I don't really like the implementation of the sandbox though, I can't tell what is in it and what isn't easily.

It should have a red border around Sandboxed windows/programs.

I think the AutoSandbox is just there as an "extra".

For me Avast! 5 Free is "perfect" for what I need.
