Sandboxie is All That

Postby maximianusherculius » Sun Jan 24, 2010 3:07 pm

I recently began using sandboxie per Dieselman and 123zap's recommendations. I am glad I did. It is a little confusing at first if you want to download files, but once you get the hang of it you will realize it is worth the effort. The only difference in the way I used to surf and the way I surf now with Sandboxie, is now my PC is much less vulnerable to malware.

Since this is about Sandboxie and sandboxing in general I moved it here.

Sandboxie is great and so is KIS safe run. It always keep you secure. If you end up on a link with porn and it downloads malware it won't affect system

The only thing I have a concern with is that I cannot seem to run Chrome in the Sandbox. I love Chrome. I use Mozilla for certain things, but Chrome is my preference for general surfing.

Yes, for some reason Chrome doesn't work within a sandbox. Even using KIS safe run it doesn't work. I think it has a few bugs

I have heard unfounded rumours that Chrome has its own sandbox. I assume that would be for surfing only, no downloads, otherwise it would be obvious becuase you would have to manually extract what you download out of the virtual realm, just like you do with sandboxie.

When I try to open chrome in Sandboxie, I get a message something like this: "SBIE2102 File is too large to copy into sandbox: Thumbnails"

noidea, I am not sure about this, but I think it is already integrated into Chrome. I think it is part of that package, at least that is the impression I got. Maybe you could say that it is an existing and ongoing project within CHROME.
