If you in a trusted zone such as Windows update then there is no need to sandbox your browser. You only need to sandbox your browser when your surfing the dark side of the web. Thats what I did when I was using Sandboxie on my XP desktop.

I might just uninstall windows. This security update BS is probably no real help anyway.

Thanks, TKFlight. It is not really an emergency. Little things like this make me impatient and irritable sometimes. I am cooling off. A simple solution will emerge soon enough without having to uninstall the updates.

I did try to uninstall a specific windows update mentioned in the sandboxie forum. It did not help though.
However, I might need to restart my pc for the change to take effect.

I think the culprit is KB979683. The article states that the update fixes 5 important vulnerabilities. Two of them allow local elevation of privilege (on XP) to be achieved, while the other three make it possible to perform a Denial of Service attack (an Vista and 7). I recommend keeping the update and waiting for a new version of sandboxie to appear. But it is up to you...

link to MS10-021.

LE: Fixed. Install Sandboxie 3.45.07.
