@Quack: Have a look here:http://forums.comodo.com/news-announcem ... is-b129.0/
I don't see "what does this alert mean?", "how to answer this popup", "I am confused", "I cannot use CIS", "CIS is complicated for me" etc....
See, all participate to make CIS better each day. Just because a program is not signed does not mean that CIS is useless. Average user would have at least 80% of installed software digitally signed, unless he likes piracy, like I do. The point is, a good number of people would not even notice CIS running.
Sure whitelisting needs to improve, but see, on my work, custom made programs got sandboxed the first day and they worked, nothing for me to decide, next day they were trusted.
Default should work just fine.
@Dieselman: Where I live, if you said something funny about someone's mother, a physical contact [fight] would ensure because it is, how to put this, defending one's honor and name.
Different cultures, I guess....
As for HIPS, there are complicated and easy ones. Comodo is fairly easy because it gives recommendation in bold black text. Don't know this program? Press the sandbox button. Case closed. As for BB, Threatfire is BB and requires user input too. And gives more popups for safe files than CIS combined.
Did you cover whole US to know no one uses Comodo?
NASA, IBM and other, I've covered that before....
Symantec didn't challenge anyone, Symantec made public a false statement and Comodo wanted to expose that lie. Shows that Comodo is not scared of Bully Mr. Corporate.
As for sponsoring, please....
The last 3 Symantec sponsored tests conducted by Dennis Technology Labs, Norton scored a perfect 100%. The last used 40 samples: http://www.dennistechnologylabs.com/rep ... 1_SYMC.pdf
Check this out:
This test was sponsored by Symantec.
The Symantec (Norton) product was the only one to protect against all the internet threats used.
Is that so... Then WHY didn't Norton protect against threats in languy test in which:
1: with internet connection, latest update, it caught most of them
2: without internet connection, latest update, it didn't caught as with first scenario, same files
As for rouges, I've seen rogues disable connectiion [lan port change], patch EXE's so it's unable to run any programs before "the rogue is unlocked, click here to buy".
As for CIS and noobs, if they just read, they can make a right decision, see my reply to Quack.
Last line, see reply scenario with 1 and 2.....
