Defensewall Buffer Overrun Protection?

Postby mdfareez » Wed Sep 16, 2009 9:23 pm

i do my own testing of zero-day malware from a domain list. there are times when i bump into a certain kind of exploit which causes internet explorer to hang, and crash. typically known as a buffer overrun operation, as labelled by comodo internet security. CIS allows me to terminate IE, isolating it from the bug, and allowing me to resume operation after that.

however, Defensewall when encountered with a buffer overrun exploit, will crash the browser and force restart the computer, and i don't know if that's normal. but one thing is for sure, the browser is still broken, even after restart. not allowing me to download any thing, it keeps terminating on itself.

anyone have any insights on this matter?

You should ask Ilya cause this could be a bug in his software...http://gladiator-antivirus.com/forum/index.php?s=c5e9aff9f4d3577d641d9076cdb9223c&showforum=193

yes, i did. and he was really active in replying. amazing support forums they have there. anyway, the problem was i flooded my defensewall untrusted application zone with tons of malware, and once it hits the buffer overflow one, defensewall didn't have time to end the processes on time, and the computer forces itself to restart. i guess, there's a limit to how much malware can be present at any one time, even within defensewall itself.
