Suspicious Host Blocked Popup

Postby ragweed » Mon Nov 21, 2011 11:40 am

I get these on about every site I visit like BBC News, STLtoday etc... Anyone know whats going on here? Is this an indicator that I have some sort of infection? I scanned with Nod32, Avast, Avira & Mbam. All said I was clean. Do you think I might have a Packer Virus or something?? Thanks!

I doubt it. I visit stltoday.com every day for Mizzou and Cardinal updates and I never notice anything unusual. It is rare that legit sites get you infected, though it is possible. I picked up some funk one time from ESPN.com. That is the only time I have ever gotten infected while visiting a legitimate site.

If you are in doubt do a boot time scan with Avast if you have it. If not, download Dr. WebCureit and run it.

One more thing:

I noticed that you scanned with Avira and Avast. If you are running more than one antivirus in realtime, stop doing it because the symptoms of doing so will mimic a hidden virus due to the way AV's will clash with one another. If you have another AV scan engine around for scanning only, that is fine.
