Maybe now there will be a 64 bit version since 5 years later Mike Nash still does not have a 64 bit version of OA.

Emsisoft acquires Online Armor (as pointed out in the posts above )
Online Armor has been acquired by Emsisoft - authors of the Anti-Malware engine we used in our Online Armor ++ product, and company that has worked closely with Tall Emu (even visiting us in Australia this year for a holiday).

As of the 1st July 2010, Online Armor the product is now owned by Emsisoft. The Online Armor website is still at www.online-armor.com, and you can learn more about Emsisoft at www.emsisoft.com

How does this affect me?

It doesn't - at least, not in a bad way. Emsisoft are taking over the normal operations of Online Armor. If you have a support request, Emsisoft will answer it. If you have a licence key that needs to be reset - Emsisoft will arrange it. Time on your licences - will be honoured by Emsisoft. Licences that have not yet been activated today will still work in future.

However, what you do get with the Emsisoft acquisition is more people working together to focus on great security. We managed to put Online Armor together using a small number of developers. The Online Armor guys have joined Emsisoft - and combined with the Emsisoft team, great things can happen. For example, great progress is already being made on the Windows 64 version, since Emsisoft crossed that bridge some time ago.

Best of all - the owner of Emsisoft, Christian Mairoll is a personal friend. I know that Online Armor goes to good hands and our users will be looked after.

What about Tall Emu?

Tall Emu sold Online Armor so it could focus on its CRM and consulting operations. We just didn't have the time to focus on Online Armor and give it what it deserved. So for us, business goes on as usual - www.tallemu.com.au is our main website, and Mike has a new "technology and nonsense" blog at http://mikenash-sydney.blogspot.com if you want to stay in touch.

Thanks to everyone for all your support - now I will hand over to Christian to talk about the future

Mike

The future of Online Armor
During the last week we've got lots of questions about this acquisition. I'll try to answer the most important ones:

Who is Emsisoft?

Emsisoft was established 2003 by Christian Mairoll in Salzburg, Austria. The flagship product is Emsisoft Anti-Malware, a full antivirus suite that combines two major scan engines, surf protection and behavior blocking to reach best detection. Emsisoft Mamutu is a pure behavior blocker program that demonstrates the core competency of the company in behavior analysis technology.

Will Online Armor end and be merged with Emsisoft Anti-Malware?

No! Online Armor has been a great success story so far. We wouldn't like to end a well established product. However, we have plans to use parts of Online Armor technology in Anti-Malware and vice versa to make the products the best on earth.

How are my licenses affected by the acquisition?

All licenses remain as they are. No license will expire earlier than promised by Tall Emu in the past.

What about Online Armor Free?

Don't worry, we will not stop to provide a freeware edition of Online Armor. Tip: If you like freeware, please check out Emsisoft's Free Emergency Kit. It's a malware scanner that uses two major antivirus engines to detect more than 4 million different types of malware - including free removal.

What are the next steps for Online Armor?

Online Armor 4.5 will be released soon! Featuring 64-bit support and lots of detail improvements to stay the best firewall.

Christian aka "Emsi"

Online Armor 64-bit version is in Beta testing
The 64-bit version of Online Armor is now in Beta. If you want to get it, go to the forum and join the Online Armor beta test team.
