You knew I'd reply... ;)

Glad it's getting fixed promptly.

However, it's not a problem for me - can't access my PS3's anyway - not at home.

They have no choice but to fix it promptly or else loose tons of people to Microsoft.

I doubt many will turn to Microsoft.

[UPDATE #2]

It seems as though owners of 120GB/250GB “slim” PS3 model are able to connect to the PlayStation Network. The problem appears to be isolated to the original “fat” PS3 models.

HaHA!... All that little quote does is make me think that Sony is fouling their own networks so people will buy the slim PS3's. You can't sell a new product if the only difference between the new and the old is size.

As for the topic... I'm glad I have the ORIGINAL Xbox... No Network issues (Sony) or RROD Xbox 360. :P

It's not a huge problem until they get things fixed, which should be relatively quick. Can't be any worse than those 24 hour maintenances Xbox Live goes through a couple times each year.

That is where you're wrong, my friend. I never said they lasted for a year but occur a few times each year. Microsoft normally shuts down the XBL Servers for 24 hours once or twice a year to do maintenance. You're also forgetting about the time where they faced problems (just like Sony) and it resulted in them offering Undertow (Arcade Game) free for download. I'd say they're pretty much on even foot right now due to terms of reliability. There's no reason to take this issue and be more proud to own a 360, every single company has it's ups and downs.

Yes I agree with valware. It is all about personal preference.

Sorry for the post hijack, but people won't see this on the fourth page.

CECHA0x - affected
CECHC0x - affected
CECHE0x - affected
CECHG0x - affected
CECHH0x - affected
CECHK0x - affected
CECHL0x - not affected
CECHP0x - not affected

Those are the Phat SKU's, stamped on the back of the console. If you've got one of the affected SKU's, don't use it. If you have an unaffected SKU, use it.

Not ALL Phats are down.

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/02/apocalyps3-8-out-of-11-ps3-fat-skus-affected-ps3-shared-zune/
it became increasingly clear that the issue was unrelated to the console's internet connectivity and instead related to the console's internal clock. If this sounds suspiciously similar to the Z2K bug that suddenly bricked thousands (dozens?) of 30GB Zune players in 2008, it's because both the PS3 and Zune share an ARM CPU chip, says DF. This is presumably the same Freescale processor blamed for Z2K, a chip that happens to have a known problem dealing with leap years.
