A Silly Mistake

Postby MadProps » Sat Mar 20, 2010 8:30 pm

After getting pumped from watching the COMODO firewall with Defense + review i decided to install it and give it a shot. So first thing i did was bring up my sandboxie browser. sadly COMODO did not recognize sandboxie so it asked if i wanted to put in into the COMODO sandbox. Being excited i didnt read it rite and thought i was checking it off as a trusted App. Anyways i ended up running sandboxie in the sandbox. (i chuckled at what i did) but i was wondering if this would have any negative effects? like running two AV's at the same time...

Maybe you should give it a try another time if you don't like this kind of security tools. It's a little bit harder to work with them when you are the gamer type or similar.
A fool with an antivirus tool is still a fool.
If you can't convince them, confuse them.
The last thing I want to do is insult you. But it IS on the list.

I don't know how they work together, but at least I would not run Sandboxie isolated (sandboxed) by CIS. If you want to keep both, add SANDBOXIE L.T.D to My Trusted Software Vendors in CIS.

Ya i did that right away and it seems to be working just fine now :D . Im just getting used to it because ive never actually had to deal with a firewall before ...well there was windows firewall but we all know how active that is.... I actually had to check it one to see if it was even on since i haven't gotten a notification in over 2 years.

Your better off disabling Comodo's sandbox and keeping Sandboxie cause they are two different types of programs.

BUt if they are two different programs they wont conflict will they? only because i read (from Dieselman actually lol) that the COMODO sandbox is a different type of sandbox where it gives a program limited access to other programs where sandboxie is a virtual box completely isolating files inside. If thats the case they wouldn't conflict because they are limiting programs in different ways. . . right?

No they shouldn't conflict but Comodo's sandbox still needs work. See what I said here. Sandboxie's main job is to protect your browser. Not to isolate unknown or untrusted programs.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5696&start=10

"Comodo's sandbox and Sandboxie are two entirely different programs. Comodo's sandbox is really just a copy of KIS's Application Activity which puts limited rights on unknown or untrusted programs. Sandboxie is a virtual environment to protect your browser from unwanted changes."
