BitDefender QuickScan?

Postby EssentiallyDave » Thu Aug 12, 2010 9:48 am

Hello, I have BitDefender QuickScan as an extension (Google) on SRWare Iron. I just wondered if any of the BitDefender community have any views on its efficacy or anything. It works fine for me, I like it as a quick second opinion. I'm just curious as to what anyone thinks about it.

They might for free. http://store.v3.co.uk/?act=promo Then again with some of the issues that get reported in their forum they might not. I've read the 2011 products due out soon are suppose to be better though. I may give BD AV a spin.

Ok so i've tested this Bitdefender Quick Scan add-on.
I've installed google chrome on my vm whit BitDefender QuickScan add-on
They i've downloaded 10 malware samples (5samples 0 day and 5 from 5days ago )

Run them and did a scan whit Bitdefender QuickScan :

Then to check the results i've done a scan whit Hitman Pro

And a Malwarebytes Quick Scan;

Conclusions : If you want an on-demand scanner go whit an on-demand scanner like MBAM,A-Squared or Hitman Pro....not whit a browser add-on. ;)
