Trend Micro bets on the cloud

Trend Micro Antivirus+, Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security, and Trend Micro Maximum Security include the overhauled cloud-based Smart Protection Network proprietary engine to protect against viruses, malware, phishing attacks, and other threats.

The suites are notable for the heavy reliance on cloud-based technology and Trend Micro's emphasis on its Smart Scan tech. According to the company, this works by constantly scanning for threats when connected to the Internet, and utilizing locally-cached databases when working offline. The offline database includes protections against viruses and malware that are known to spread by USB keys.

Unlike many of its competitors, Trend Micro does not offer a firewall component, instead relying on the default Windows firewall.

So i've played a little whit Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security..and i must say that this isa very good product ,however it isn't perfect.

What i do like :
-Their is no need for updates because everything is analyzed in the cloud.
-The program is very simple and userfriendly.
- It's a cloud based security type security so you always have a very good detection rate.I've tested it whit MDL links and it had very good results.

-It stops malware right from the source.

And they do have tons of sign. The detection rate is very very high.

What i don't like
-the program feels light overall ,that is untill you take a look in your task manager.
Image

-they don't have a second line of defence (and most important)

I've tested it whit more then 100 malware samples and i must say that Trend micro managed to block most of them. However it missed a few......No behavior blocker...no HIPS...no sandbox.....it's just the cloud. As much as i love this solution ,i must say that trend micro made a mistake their. They've shoulde've deny the unknow. If it's not marked in their cloud as trusted then it shouldn't be able to run/download. ;) Just as an ideea for trend micro.

in the latest AV-C on demand test trend micro titanium plus 2011 scored very bad (in detection it was second worst after Kingsoft) and got the lowest possible award "tested" together with kingsoft. A very bad company to stay in

They've tested Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus for on-demand scaning.....I've played whit the IS. The Internet Security also has the web filter wich managed to block most of the malware sites... :D
