Bottom Line

G Data's security suite offers strong protection against phishing and Web-based exploits, but not all of its components are up to this high standard.

Cons
Failed to thoroughly clean up detected malware. Failed to block installation of some detected threats. Parental control blocks valid sites, lacks password protection. Slowed browsing significantly.

I've tested G-data IS on my VM....and it manage to slow down not just my browser ..but my entire system.........
I will test G-data on my real system in one of these days.Did some else played with this product?

I have tested G Data on my older computer (2 GB RAM, Intel Pentium dual core). It did slow down the computer a substantial amount, but it managed to prevent a lot of malware.

I cannot be certain (ver. 2010 or 2011, almost certain it was 2011) but I want to say I toyed with this not long ago via VM and found it to detect very well and noticed no slowdowns while doing so...perhaps it is a hit and miss situation much like many programs when compared in a large enough pool. I recall Norton being like this not many years back, one system it was terribly slow and another of similar spec one might expect to behave similarly would run very slow, it happens sometimes.
