How about a smooth tune from Satch? He grew up in Carle Place, NY and attended the same high school as Steve Vai. He now resides in San Fran.

Satriani played drums until age 14. That is when he heard Hendrix for the first time. He then switched over to guitar. He was giving guitar lessens less than 4 years later to modern talents Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett of Metallica.
