Wireless Router Recommendation

Postby mhl6493 » Thu Jul 07, 2011 2:32 pm

Need some recommendations for a good, secure, easy-to-set-up, relatively inexpensive wireless router for my home network. The main computer it will be installed on is a Vista 64-bit machine, if that makes any difference. I should only have one other computer, my laptop, connected to the network.

Thanks!

Linksys are not that easy. The easiest ones are sold at Walmart by Cisco. The commercials even say "Easiest routers to set up".

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like the Cisco model may be exactly what I need...

Yes it is. My Cousin picked it up. Took him less then 10 minutes and his laptop was on line via wireless. Keep in mind that my Cousin (43 years old) does not know ANYTHING about computers. All he knows is how to log into Comcast.net and check his email. Yes he really is that dumb.

Based on my own personal experiences, I would go with LInksys, but it is entirely up to you.

Easy to you does not mean ease to everyone. The Cisco Valet was designed with easy set in mind.

Easy to you does not mean easy for everyone either.

And where did I say for me? Open mouth insert foot. Your basing your answer on your own experience and not facts.

Read the advertisements around the site. Read the reviews. I dont have a router. I have a gateway.

I was referring to you Wal-Mart router suggestion.

FYI: Cisco manufactures Linksys routers.
