How To Check System Files For Digital Signatures

As many of you already know, files that do NOT contain digital signatures are usually suspected pieces of malware.   To check your Windows system files for files that are not signed you can run sigverif.exe

Nasty New Rootkit Patches Atapi.sys

For the past 7 days I’ve been seeing a new rootkit (not sure of the name) that patches the atapi.sys driver.  This rootkit was NOT detected by any of the applications I use in my bootable anti-malware toolkit. Full scans with:

Avira
SAS
MBAM
Spyware Doctor
GMER

revealed nothing.  I was still getting all searches in any browser redirected to scam [...]

Panda Cloud Antivirus Out Of Beta

Panda’s free cloud antivirus just came out of beta.  You can check out this free cloud scanner here
They’ve overhauled the website and it looks great.  I’ll be doing 2 reviews on the final release – prevention and removal (this weekend).
