Panda Security contacted me today about my recent review of their BETA product “Cloud Antivirus”. They wanted to make sure that everyone knew that this was ONLY a beta product.
Hello Matt,
a bunch of people have directed me to your review of Panda Cloud Antivirus. I have followed your other reviews in the past and I have to admit that your methodology seems pretty straight-forward and fair across the board for all the different products.
However I did get the feeling that there was not enough emphasis made on the fact that this is truly a beta which is still under development and I think many users are getting the wrong impression. Unlike the typical 2008, 2009, 2010 “Internet Security” or “Antivirus” products which during beta are pretty much the same as the final versions, the beta of Cloud Antivirus is really under development. We’re still integrating the rest of the technologies needed to complete the product. Therefore it is normal that you would get the results you did, and was not a surprise for us. But I still worry that users may be getting the wrong impression as your video has had quite an impact.
I’m not sure if this is something that you could (or would) clarify within the video, but at least I wanted you to be aware of this fact.
If you have any doubts about the technologies we’re integrating feel free to ask. We’ll be releasing a beta2 fairly shortly but of course under the same idea that the product is still under development.
Regards,
name omited

I thought Matt was quite clear in the video that it is indeed a beta. Beta or not, right now the product is useless.
..and I’m sure that all of us who frequent this site, know that Matt will be fair and review the product again when it comes out of beta.
Ummm…quick bit of advice: if you don’t want bad reviews of your beta product, don’t release it before it’s ready. The “beta” tag only gets you so far and usually only means we’ll forgive some bugs here and there – not a complete failure to stop some standard modern infections.
@RescueNerds – took the words outta my mouth
@John – of course I will, it’s only fair.
wow Matt you are famous out there! awesome, congrats!
If they make a antivirus compatible version, I would use it! BTW can you do onecare prevention test?
I believe in you Panda
