Another Reason to Hate Trend Micro…

Tonight, one of my new clients asked me to clean up a rogue anti-virus app and install his new anti-virus, Trend Micro Titanium (…whatever that means).  I popped the disc in, clicked install and bam!

Check out the screen shot below (click to enlarge):Trend-Micro-Titanium

Are you F’n kidd’in me?  Trend Micro is NOT compatible with an On-Demand scanner (the free version of MalwareBytes is not real-time)?  Personally, if it were me, I’d cancel this install and buy a full copy of MalwareBytes (which includes really good real-time protection).

Kaspersky isn’t compatible with Superantispyware and IoBit 360 too.
    What’s worse ?

Of course Trend Micro is worst if it can’t even run along side a on demand scanner, especially one that is so powerful and used so frequently.

@Ringman SuperAntiSpyware includes some stuff that might get kaspersky working wrong and IoBit has real-time

That sucks. But MBAM free contains low-level driver which started with system and may interfere. Of course I believe that it’s marketing affairs.

you see this sort of thing most days, Trend Micro is great for business, well my business anyway.Very poor detection rates and incompatible with almost everything. I always delete Trend Micro (customer willing) and install MSE with sandboxie.

MSE + Comodo Firewall with Defense+ + Threatfire all the way !

P.S. Matt, kindly update your FAQ. You said your favorite signature-based AV is Avira 9 and Avira 10 has long been available.

The newest panda Internet Security 2011 also trys to un-install Malwarebytes.

totally agree with your posting that part “Are you F’n kidd’in me?”.

This is why I love Agnitum Security Suite Pro, which detect other installed security software during installation make itself compatible with them (even with other real-time scanners).
