Great review, the only thing I would add to it is maybe adding spybot to the arsenal, yeah it does not remove anything but it could easily catch something that the others missed, its got a quick scan and it’s free.

The only other problem I see is that there is a lag in the video compared to the audio.

EDIT : I meant to say it does not remove “everything”, whoops.

Spybot is useless, wouldn’t detect anything that the products in the video may miss.

sorry buddy but you are wrong, I got a piece of malware on my computer, did a scan with mbam, sas, avira, symatec corp, trojan remover and dr.web. I though I got everything but I did a scan with spybot for the hell of it and it actually got a few files those other apps never found.

spybot can remove malware. but every time i ever used it; it only removed ads and tracking cookies (which really isn’t malware)

languy99 – yeah, I’ve got about a 3 second delay on my end too

What happened to doing it all in Safe Mode? Much easier…

Emperor Darius February 3, 2009 at 11:17 am

@languy99

Yeah, like tracking cookies. -_-

@Jimmy James – I wanted to show how easy this removal process was without going into safemode this time.

Avast was unable to find SWP 2009 demo in my laptop, win 97.

I run hijackthis before and after a malware scan.

As the analysis data from hjt can be confusing for the average home user, I use an hjt analysis site to interpret the results. Has not failed yet.

I just want to thank Malwarekilla, I was going nuts with a virus I got….I appreciate the time and efforts you put into helping all of us. If not for you, I would still be plagued by “swp2009″, I was very surprised, but based on your recommendation and video of Malwarbytes…I gave it a try…I wasn’t sure if it would actually catch the virus, since everything I’ve read didn’t point to that outcome, and it seems that everyone is having the hardest time getting rid of “swp2009″. I tried deleting the registry entries, not to mention that I have the free version of PC TOOLS “antivirus” and “threat fire” and it still seemed to make it into my computer. As soon as Malwarebytes went in, I followed your instructions, updated, and ran a full scan, it took 1.5 hours to complete, but it detected the “swp2009″ very easily, I disabled my system restore, manually removed those files, stop the processes, and quarantined and removed the virus with Malwarebytes. Note: it wasn’t until I used Malwarebytes to remove, that is when the virus did not show up again after rebooting my system. Thank you very much, Please just know that your effort has helped someone very much, and that they are truly greatful to you.
Best Wishes in the future, God Bless
